Our mission is to create a safe space for cosplay artists and their fans, one that will support their self-expression and creativity. We want this to be a space created in close collaboration with this wonderful community, so that it can help resolve its most notorious issues in an innovative and friendly way.<br><br>We strive to include the following features within cos.place, as well as many others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Content feed<\/strong> (pictures, video),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to share <strong>short-form<\/strong> content,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>marketplace<\/strong> for cosplay-related services and products (both first &amp; second hand),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Built-in protection<\/strong> against piracy and AI,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integrations with ongoing <strong>events<\/strong> (cons, LARPs),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A dedicated system for <strong>cosplay groups<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ways to <strong>support<\/strong> your favorite creators (via donations, subscriptions, premium content),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rich and deep profile <strong>customization<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Virtual badges<\/strong> as rewards,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Convenient <strong>tagging<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An algorithm built to support <strong>small creators<\/strong>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the next few weeks we\u2019ll have the honor to dive deeper and present you with each of these &#8211; as well as many other &#8211; features!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cos.place\/newsletter\/assets\/cosmo1.avif\" alt=\"Image of Cosmo, cos.place's mascot. Art 1 by @nyank0wski.\" style=\"width: 600px;\"><br><strong>[ Instagram: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/nyank0wski\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@nyank0wski<\/a> ]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"once-upon-a-cosplay\">once upon a cosplay&#8230;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the last few weeks many creators have publicly spoken out against the unwise and harmful addition of <strong>Generative Artificial Intelligence<\/strong> to most popular social media platforms (X, Meta).<br><br>Users have expressed their concerns with how easy it is to <strong>steal<\/strong> or <strong>manipulate<\/strong> the content they share. Over on X alone there have been many instances of people\u2019s pictures being edited without their consent in order to present them <strong>in suggestive poses<\/strong> or even nude. In some terrible cases those edits impacted even <strong>minors<\/strong>.<br><br>We show our full support towards those displeased users and want it to be known that <strong>cos.place will be a platform completely devoid of AI<\/strong> and we will never use any of the content posted on the site &#8211; neither photos nor videos &#8211; to train it.<br><br>We\u2019ll do our very best to ensure that cos.place <strong>blocks<\/strong> any and all attempts at using your data by AI. We\u2019ll achieve this by employing many layers of protective measures, such as applying <strong>special filters<\/strong> on all posted content by default. Those filters, although <strong>invisible<\/strong> to the human eye, will make it <strong>impossible<\/strong> for the AI to use your data in its training. Those solutions are already available thanks to projects like <strong>Nightshade<\/strong> or <strong>Glaze<\/strong>, and we\u2019re planning on becoming one of the very first social media platforms to take it upon ourselves to protect our users and the content they post.<br><br>At the time of writing this, <strong>none<\/strong> of the major social media platforms used by cosplayers &#8211; <strong>neither TikTok, Instagram, nor X<\/strong> &#8211; equip sufficient safeguards against Artificial Intelligence.<br><br><strong>We\u2019ll do everything in our power to make your stay with us safe \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cos.place\/newsletter\/assets\/cosmo2.avif\" alt=\"Image of Cosmo, cos.place's mascot. We\u2019ll make sure to update you about its status in the following weeks.<br><br>People attending the <strong>Remcon festival (13-15th February)<\/strong> in Poland will have a chance to come across our <strong>visiting cards<\/strong>! They will be handed out by certain vendors, as well as our friends attending the convention.
