We’ve had the chance to talk with you about our project and your expectations of our work, established many friendly relationships, as well as welcomed 30 new cos.pals. That is a deeply philosophically loaded question and surely we could ponder it for a really long time, but this thread is slowly running stale.
The same way in which the ancients have tamed the beasts of their time to help them in their daily life, we’re aiming to tame the algorithm to support creators. To achieve this we’ve established a set of rules that our algorithm will adhere to. They’re put in place to help shape our platform in such a way as to protect creators against pressure of going viral and creative burnout, as well as helping browsing users with easier access to their favorite content.
Cos.place’s algorithm will:

Promote new users

Promote novice cosplayers

Promote cosplayers that tag other creators in their posts

Show content chronologically

Show content similar to one browsed by the users in the past

Show different content occasionally as to not close our users in separate bubbles

Treat posts of all users equally, regardless of posting frequency

Additionally, cos.place’s content feed will have four subcategories:

“For you” – serving mainly content based on user’s previous preferences

“Followed” – serving content only from followed creators

“Fresh” – serving the latest posts chronologically

“Popular” – serving the most popular content in the chosen timespan

We hope that these efforts will allow creators to focus on pursuing their passion.
