where's everyone going...

Allow me to paint you a picture. Cough-cough!
For the last couple months you've been preparing a cosplay of your Favorite Character for The Convention. Standard procedure: blood, sweat, tears, Sodom and Gomorrah, and so on. Months pass in days, weeks in hours. The night before the convention passes to the tune of your yelps when burning yourself with hot glue or randomly scarifying yourself with a box cutter... but you've done it! Your Favorite Character! It's alive!
You skip to the conplace happily, your chest swelling with pride. You don't waste a single opportunity to take a pic with someone, maybe photobomb the local TV crew, and you're slowly developing an eight-pack from sucking in your stomach.
And then, the one shot, one opportunity - a Professional Photographer approaches you. They complement your outfit, show you their portfolio and ask if they could do a small photoshoot with you. To say that your heart is about to burst out is as if to say nothing!
Your mind, body and soul work in perfect harmony. Your body bends into shapes that mathematicians could never dream of dreaming up. Composition, colors, aura, perspective, other words. When you finish, you're filled with happiness and immense satisfaction, even though you're sweating buckets and your facial muscles have turned to stone by now.
They show you the photos, you hug it out and you're about to go your separate ways. You're so excited you forget to ask for their contact info. As you say your goodbyes, they simply say - “I'll make sure to post it!”.
Amazing!
But... where...?

bingo?

According to our surveys, as many as 90% of experienced cosplayers attend an average of two or more conventions per year, using an average of two to four platforms to learn about them. The problem is that respondents rarely agree on which specific platforms these are.

When designing cos.place, we were aware from the get-go of the strong connection of the cosplay community with con culture. As more and more time passes, the more evident it is. Frankly, after so long, it's incredibly difficult for us to even imagine one existing without the other.
To create a platform that truly serves as a global hub for the cosplay community, we must include features related to conventions and other pop culture-themed events. This opinion seems to be shared by the cosplayers we surveyed, as a whopping 89% of them rated the idea of such features positively!

Cos.place's events board will:

  • Display a list of events - past, present, and upcoming, both in-person and online.
  • Display events on a map, so you can easily find one in your area.
  • Display them in a calendar format, allowing you to mark events of interest and mark your attendance in advance.
  • Show detailed information about the event, including:
    • Theme
    • Attractions
    • Invited guests, artists, and vendors
    • Past attendee counts
    • Announcements from the organizers
  • Allow you to announce your attendance/will to attend the event.
  • Post content containing the event tag in its thread, ensuring nothing gets lost!
  • Add the option to dynamically update the “next con” tab in the user's bio based on their calendar.

Over time, we also plan to expand the events board's functionality to include the ability to book event tickets directly from cos.place. We will dynamically develop this system in response to your needs, so if you have any suggestions, be sure to let us know at contact@cos.place or on our Discord server!
